| My favorite everyday software is InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator. I am a member of AIGA, Book Builders and InDesign User's Group. My favorite GD magazines are HOW, InDesign Magazine and Dynamic Graphics. I frequent SmashingMagazine.com, Lynda.com, kuler.adobe.com, and Commarts.com. My favorite stock photo site lately is Comstock.com. Background: For my BFA I had focused on film, but also taken design and color theory. I started graphic designing in 1995 as part of my job running a film series at the Coolidge Corner Theater. I needed flyers, postcards, cool posters, and program guides about the films we were showing. Then for 3-4 years I designed newsletters & flyers for several non-profit film groups & festivals. For 7 years, the best part of my job at a television distribution company was designing marketing materials. In 2005 I left the TV industry to focus full time on design and took a new job as a designer. |
